VALS survey

The results of my VALs survey showed that I am an experiencer and innovator. I feel like for the mast part it is true and that many of the attributes that are assigned in these groups describe me well. Of course it is not 100% correct, but nothing is. As it pertains to me as a consumer, I believe that it is somewhat incorrect. The VALS survey states the I am the type to spend impulsively, but while I am not really the person that saves a lot of money, I do lots of research before I make large purchases.

Participation 4: blog post #2

1. This Tuesday I went to see the electronic artist Feed Me at the 9:30 club in D.C. The medium was far more important than the message because although their were words in the songs, I don't know any of them and they were of little importance to me. It was all about the music, lights and energy. If the lyrics were written down in a book I certainly would not read them.

2. I feel as though my Facebook account is in some ways an extension of myself. It allows me to connect more with people I have a hard time catching up with.

3. I am engaging in the Global Village right now, at least as soon as I publish this blog post.

4. I would have to say that I am a Technological Determinist. In such a short time I have seen Society change so much because of new technologies. I am a huge music lover and have been impacted in a big way by today's flow of media. I can listen to so much more content then get it right away to share with others in ways never possible before. No more radio telling what i can listen to or record shops with limited selections.

creative commons

In today's melting pot of online information, the issues of copy write infringement get a bit murky. If you want your message to get out there, you have no choice but upload to the internet. Once out there your content can be twisted and reworked by millions of people and re-uploaded in a completely different way than you had originally intended. When all is said and done, it is my opinion that as long as there is no profit being made from the use of someones original work then there is no harm done.
